It is an honour to serve as the Curator for Sizwe-Hosmed Medical Scheme.
I step into this role with the following intent and commitment: to improve service levels, enhance your overall member experience, and ensure that the scheme remains accessible, responsive, and dependable to members and their beneficiaries. Our focus is firmly on you, the members, by improving turnaround times, paying claims, and building a culture that consistently delivers quality care and support when you need it most.
I am pleased to share that Sizwe-Hosmed’s financial position continues to strengthen, and as at the date of this update, the scheme complies with the regulatory requirements in this regard.
This is a major milestone and provides greater security for members, ensuring that the claims obligations of the scheme are confidently met, and creates a solid foundation for the future. Whilst the solvency of the Scheme was a key reason for the appointment of a Curator, there are several other equally important matters that still need to be addressed to stabilise the Scheme.
These include the governance structures, risk management, non-healthcare expenses, member retention, service levels, and the efficient processing of claims, amongst others. My team and I are striving to make the Scheme and its product offering more appealing and user-friendly whilst retaining the rich benefits that you, as members, have become accustomed to and appreciate.
Together with the Scheme’s management, dedicated staff, and loyal service providers, I am committed to building a sustainable Scheme you can trust now and in the future.
